Many schools, colleges and universities are now taking advantage of IP technology to protect their grounds and campuses. Student
safety is of paramount importance and acts of theft and vandalism can be common place in educational establishments.

The benefit of IP equipment is that it takes advantage of structured CAT5 cabling, which is either already prevalent in the building or
can be installed to future proof the installation, to transmit video. This saves running new cables through the building at a later date,
which has a massive cost saving.

Samsung Techwin's iPOLiS range of easy to use IP products is perfect for such installations and can even work seamlessly with traditional CCTV products via control equipment such as the SVR range of Digital Video Recorders (DVRs). The cameras and domes feature both a BNC and Ethernet input so even if the facility is using standard coaxial cable for the time being, when it switched to structured CAT5 cabling the investment in imaging equipment is safe. The whole installation can be viewed via a common platform and even viewed remotely and securely using Samsung Techwin's licence-free SNM-128S Central Management System (CMS) software on a PC.

It's not just security where surveillance can benefit. Individual classrooms and lessons can be viewed, recorded and used for staff training purposes.
